It was last week that Salman Khan's Race 3 hit the screens. While the critics tore apart the action thriller, Remo D'Souza's directorial venture zoomed past the Rs 100-crore mark in its opening. But the latest buzz has it that film is doing decent business at the single screens, the numbers at the multiplexes appear to be dwindling.

When everyone thought that Race 3 would turn out to be a blockbuster like Salman's previous Eid release, the film is apparently not doing that great business at the box office. And this very reason has made Salman and Arbaaz Khan reconsider the release of Dabangg 3.

According to a leading daily, Salman has now decided to push the release date of Dabangg 3 after Bharat.

Earlier reports had suggested that Dabangg 3 may hit the screens over the Republic Day weekend ahead of Bharat's Eid release, But now buzz has it that Dabangg producer Arbaaz has decided to push the third instalment to the latter half of 2019.

"Both films will be shot simultaneously from September. But the plan is to release Bharat first," a source told the daily.

"Salman needs to be part of a powerful story, similar to what he did with Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and Sultan (2016). He has to restore his image as a bankable actor," trade analyst Amod Mehra added.

Since Dabangg 3 would be a regular masala film, trade pundits are of the opinion that Salman needs a film with an edge to mark his return as a bankable actor.Bharat, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, also stars Priyanka Chopra and Disha Patani. An official remake of Korean film, An Ode To My Father, Bharat depicts the history of India through the life of an ordinary man.
